Any NASCAR fans out there? You may be surprised to learn the Indianapolis 500 Speedway racetrack ended up being paved with the Nelsonville Block, manufactured in Nelsonville, Ohio. In April 1909, Nascar racetrack owners, Carl Fisher and partners, chose the Neilsonville paver to pave the raceway.

“King of brick pavers,” salt glazing was the secret ingredient. The first brick plant was built in 1877 and closed in 1937.
