Dominion Tar and Chemical Company, Ltd., founded in 1903, first operated as a coal tar distillation plant in Nova Scotia. As Canada’s economy industrialized, they continued to expand and became known as Domtar Inc. in 1977. Domtar was known for stamping a variety of safety messages on bricks for their masons to see, reminders to practice and prioritize safety on construction sites. These two say "Live Safely" and "Drive Safely".
