Mimico Squared

Mimico is derived from the Ojibwe word omiimiikaa, meaning abundant with wild pigeons. The pigeon after which Mimico was named was the Passenger pigeon. Mimico bricks date back to early 1900's.

Mimico Correctional Centre started out in 1913 as the Ontario Reformatory and had inmates extracting shale, AND manufacturing bricks. A shale deposit on 80 hectares of land was discovered on the east side of Kipling Avenue, between Evans and Horner avenues. The Centre was demolished in 2012.

All prints are made-to-order at a professional fine art printer in Toronto. Each print is professionally printed on Fine Art Paper using 100% archival ink, are signed and include a Cat Marchese Citybonez™ Certificate of Authenticity card.
